Mary Beth
Mary Beth called in a panic.
She is a long-time client, was disabled prior to retiring and has had the same PCP for all of the years we have been working together.
Recently, her health has taken a turn for the worse and she has had mobility issues.
To compound her problem her PCP left her practice to join another that did not accept Mary Beth's
Advantage Plan.
She needed medical care. Had spoken to her Dr but was in a pickle. She did not want to start anew with a Dr. she did not know but could not afford to pay out-of-pocket for care and could not wait for January 1st for the plan her PCP accepts to take effect.
She also cannot afford a Supplement Plan.
Due to limited income we suggested she apply for the Low Income Subsidy (LIS) allowing her, if approved, to not only get help paying for her medications but also gain the ability to make plan changes outside of Open Enrollment.
Result: Mary Beth got approved for LIS allowing us to change her plan mid-year so that she could see her preferred PCP and get help paying for her new medications.
